Every new Merry People Bobbi Boot colour has a story, and our newest shade, Mocha, is all about creativity. Inspired by that earthy, hands-on joy of getting stuck into your craft, Mocha is made for mess, movement and magic!
To celebrate our newest shade, we’re spotlighting three Melbourne-based creatives who bring passion and purpose to everything they do. Whether it’s baking, sculpting, arranging flowers or mucking out a stable, they’re doing it all in their Merry People Mocha Bobbi Boots.
Meet Bek, Tyana and Suzie, and hear how their boots help them embrace every muddy, flour-dusted, joy-filled moment.
Bek, Tremella Botanicals
Bek leads the team of florists and creatives at Tremella Botanicals.
The brief? To create dreamy, evocative and artful floral scapes inspired by Ikebana, the mindful practice of floral artistry, emphasising the connection between nature and human creativity. Bek also runs Clay Dance Studio, which specialises in 3D clay printing. The creative combo keeps her on her toes - in her Mocha Bobbi Boots - all day.
MP: How do you spark your creativity each morning?
Bek: “My husband and I light some incense, do some gratitude journaling and then I’m off to the flower markets and studio. But not without a good coffee first!”
MP: What are you loving about your Mocha Bobbi Boots?
Bek: “They make everything easier. Shoes are really important as a florist, cause I’m on my feet sometimes up to like twelve hours a day! Floristry can also get really cold - going from the markets to the cool rooms - so my Mocha Bobbis keep me warm and dry all day. I also love coordinating my wardrobe and nail colour to the brief I’m working on each week, so the peach colour pop on Mocha is super fun for this.”
MP: What do you love about your creative calling?
Bek: “I love working with flowers because of how dynamic they are. Even after like eight years of being a florist, I still get giddy with excitement every time I go into the flower market! A big part of my work is also the ceramic vases that we 3D print in-house. Our vases are fun, unique and spark joy. Just like my Mocha boots!”
Tyana, Collingwood Children's Farm
Tyana is part of the Collingwood Children’s Farm, a not-for-profit, inner city working farm situated on Wurundjeri Woiwurrung country. As part of the Animal Husbandry Team, Tyana spends her days in the mud and muck, puddles and poo, feeding, training, medicating, exercising and caring for a variety of animals.
With a background in science, she is passionate about educating visitors on regenerative agriculture and connecting people with their food environment. The best bit? Her Mocha Bobbi Boots can keep up with it all.
MP: Tell us about a typical day at the Farm?
Tyana: “I'm kind of a ‘typical farmer’. I feed the animals, put up electric fences and clean enclosures. We also run educational activities for visitors like ‘Cow Brushing’ and ‘Meet The Horses’, but my favourite part right now is spending time with the small white pony Finnegan. His cheekiness far exceeds his size!”
MP: How do your Mocha Bobbi Boots keep you going all day?
Tyana: “If I don’t wear my Mocha Bobbi Boots, my feet are guaranteed to get wet as I’m constantly in puddles, mud and poo! I can wear them all day and easily wipe them down after work. On the weekends I'll wear them in the backyard with the chooks, on my coffee run or shopping at Op Shops and farmers markets. My Mochas are my 7-day-a-week go-to boots.”
MP: What are you passionate about?
Tyana: “I love working with the animals, but I am passionate about regenerative agriculture, where you manage the farm holistically to improve soil health and the ecosystem rather than using the environment to maximise profit.”
Suzie, Cake House Collective
Warning: major cravings ahead!
Suzie is head honcho at Cake House Collective, where she bakes for local cafés and markets: think apple crumble, lemon meringue pie and dreamy blueberry cheesecake. Her online Cake Shop is filled to the brim with brownies, cookies and more treats that’ll have you reaching for a fork, super fast!
Her secret to baking up a storm? A good pair of boots — and her Mocha Bobbi Boots always deliver!
MP: Where do you kickstart your creativity?
Suzie: “In my kitchen. My Mochas are so comfy and warm, so it's gorgeous in the morning, taking in the amazing view in real comfort, having my coffee and getting stuck into the delicious, creative mess!”
MP: Why are your Mocha Bobbi Boots important in your creative work?
Suzie: “They just make everything so easy! I need a stable shoe that can get messy in the kitchen but then clean up to go to the farmers market, out on deliveries or to meet with suppliers to source ingredients - in any weather. My feet always stay dry, supported and warm. So many ingredients go into a successful day as a baker and business owner, so my Mocha’s give me one less thing to worry about!”
MP: What’s your current passion?
Suzie: “I'm loving baking and creating new pie recipes at the moment. The best feeling for me is getting my products to the market and customers trying them. It’s just the most rewarding feeling.”
