4 Fresh Ways To Style Our NEW Ivy Blossom Tully Boot!

When our Product Team was creating the new Ivy Blossom Tully Boot, sourcing a muse, model and stylist for the launch was a simple decision. “Lesley Crawford from @lesleyhasmanyhats has been on my creative moodboard forever,” laughs Cass, Head of Product. “It was a no-brainer to recruit her as the face - and fashion force - behind this exciting new design.”

“I have long admired her personal style and ability to combine the unexpected,” Cass continues. “She has such a joyful and skilled approach to colour that feels so aligned to Merry People”.

For Lesley, stepping in to launch our Ivy Blossom Tully at South Melbourne Market - where the first Merry People boots were sold over a decade ago - proved a match made in Merry heaven! “I loved the chunky heel and the neoprene cuff as it gives you extra height and extra protection from the weather," says the former SBS Network Stylist, set decorator, art director and production designer. "They were very comfortable to wear and super versatile with my wardrobe. And the colours green/ pink are a classic combination!”

Look 1: Co-ordinate Colour Pops!

Lesley leans into the colour of the Ivy Blossom Tully’s by coordinating them back with some colours from her jacket and hat combo, a favourite fit from Kowtow. “The fabric seemed perfectly appropriate for South Melbourne Markets!” she says. “I would wear this outfit on many occasions, from walking dogs to meeting friends for coffee -  or even to uplift any old grey day.”

Top Style Tip:

“Putting a solid colour beside the boot -  black in this case, which matches the cuff and the neck on the jacket - really draws your attention to the boot as it’s a noticeable contrast.”

Look 2: Lock Into Layering

Layering is key to keeping up with the transeasonal appeal of the Ivy Blossom Tully, says Lesley. “In winter, you can put something warm underneath, and in this case, the Song For The Mute thick lace polo is the perfect colour match with the brocade from my Pamela Easton hand loomed, silk brocade shirt. For warmer months, you can layer the same pieces over a crisp white shirt.”

Top Style Tip:

“Although I picked pieces from my wardrobe that complemented the emerald green and bubblegum pink of the Ivy Blossom Tully, they don’t have to be an exact colour match.  I don’t like things too matchy-matchy, so I threw on the lilac beanie!”

Look 3: Show Subtle Details

“This coat has been in my wardrobe for many years,” explains Lesley. It is such a happy piece that always makes me feel good.” Covering the top of her Ivy Blossom Tully’s with her pant length was intentional, she adds. “With the pattern of the coat and the longer length, I thought it was more appropriate to just see the pop of colour at the bottom of the Ivy Blossom Tully, rather than the higher silhouette. Showing just a peek, rather than all of the detail, can prove just as strong a style statement.”

Top Style Tip:

“This is a traditional turban-shaped scarf, but sometimes I just wrap the scarf around my head and secure it with a brooch or a safety pin. I don’t think you need to be too precious about it -  they don’t need to be perfect!”

Look 4: Sets Keep It Simple

Choose a two-set to keep styling stress-free, Lesley suggests. “I love a two-piece as you don’t have to think about them. They are versatile enough to work as separates, making them a great investment and stress-free staple in your wardrobe," she notes of her matching Kowtow skirt and shirt two-piece. “I do wear a lot of matching sets, and I love the oversized feel for comfort.”

Top Style Tip:

When layering, there are no rules, says Lesley. “This cardigan is shorter than the shirt, but because of the matching colourway of the shirt and skirt, it’s more streamlined.”

Take Your Pick of Ivy Blossom

So what is Lesley’s final take on the new Ivy Blossom Tully? “As a Sydney-sider, we have so much rain that to have a boot that is both stylish and waterproof is a real bonus! And a bit of colour definitely brightens up a grey rainy day!”
